helping you remember SAT definitions... the dirty way

avarice

avarice (n.) – greed; passion for hoarding riches

for your edification:  In this definition-remembering scenario, it would help if you considered rice a delicacy.  Yeah, in our scenario, rice is the best food you can imagine laying your chopsticks upon.  Okay, now that that’s in your head, let’s break down the word avarice.  Avarice is comprised of Ava and rice.  Remember how much you love rice?  Well, so does this sticky-fingered, greedy rice-hoarder named Ava.  Ava takes all the rice in the land, until the rest of the village is left hungry and riceless.  Way to be a jerk, Ava.  A greedy, rice stealing jerk. Ugh.

examplification - Mitzi:  Seriously, Ava.   Take your greedy paws off of the rice bowl.

Muffy:  That girl has more avarice than anyone I’ve ever met.  What a greedy rice-hoarder that Ava is.  Wow.

Mitzi:  Her hair is so shiny, though.

Muffy:  Oh, I know.  Ava's got great hair.
